SEVEN SYMBOLS A Reminder of Prisoners of War

When we speak about war, we first and foremost speak about people. People who defend our country, people who hold the line and protect it — sometimes at the cost of their own lives — and people who remain in captivity. These are the people we must continue to speak about and whose memory we must preserve.

Mural at Mad Heads

This mural was not created for decoration. It is about the injustice we have no right to forget and about the people we must bring home. For me, memory is not about commemoration — it is about responsibility. Especially when you know that there are people around you for whom this is not an abstraction but their real life.

“Hands” Monument

Memory is a form of resistance. It does not allow the truth about suffering, the strength of our people and the pain that continues to be erased. We have no moral right to ignore it. It is a constant pain we live with, yet we sincerely believe that one day — when the last prisoner is freed — this pain and the cry of the soul will begin to fade.

Azovstal Banner, Kyiv City State Administration

The purpose of the struggle is to preserve identity and culture. Its symbol is confidence in our own strength and self-reliance. And the result of this struggle is a country where cultural values stand above material wealth.

“Cage” Monument

Memory is part of identity — the identity of a person, a family, a city, and a country. It is a constant that cannot be changed, no matter how much enemies from outside or within may wish it. Therefore, we must not stop. We must continue to fight in order to preserve ourselves and establish ourselves as a nation of people who care and who are ready to stand and fight.

Azovstal: New Meanings

This story reveals the fighter from another perspective. Only his parents can tell the story of this hero in this way. They shared personal belongings that reflect his interests and hobbies, revealing him as a person — someone with his own passions and individuality.

Monument “Doors”

Indifference is terrible — especially when you have the power to help. To understand that someone’s life may depend on your help and still choose not to help is, in essence, a form of killing. There are no rational explanations that can justify it.
