Testimony of SK — an Azov fighterOlenivka, July 28–29, 2022

Below is the story of one of the Azov fighters – SK, who was in captivity in Olenivka at that time. Read, share, and do not let these memories disappear.

“A bright flash on the ceiling and you turninto an armadillo or an oak tree.”

Why is it important to spread the truth about the Olenivka terrorist attack?

“Crimes of the Third Reich are remembered — because people spoke about them. The world learned about the Holodomor — because it was exposed. If we had stayed silent everything would have been forgotten. The same applies to the Olenivka terrorist attack — if we do not speak no one else will.”

Why must we not forget this?

“Because it can happen again. Because russians have already killed us — in the gulags, through famine, under the red flag… History has given us more than enough examples to stop believing in any ‘friendship with russians.’ The younger generation must know this. This is our responsibility.”

What does life feel like after captivity?

“After ‘Barrack 200’ after captivity after everything… you are not living — you are just existing. You act like a robot. Your emotions are numb.

Russians said they had turned us into ‘killing machines’ ‘fascists.’ But it was them who through the conditions of captivity made us forget what it means to feel.”

In memory of all those who were killed in Olenivka.
