In Kyiv, Hero of Ukraine Maksym “Piston” Kahal Was Honored

On March 30, Kyiv hosted a memorial run in honor of the legendary Azov fighter and defender of Mariupol, Maksym “Piston” Kahal, initiated by the Association of Azovstal Defenders' Families.

‍

More than a hundred participants joined the event, including the soldier’s comrades and friends, professional athletes, and concerned citizens.

As a result of the event, 13,525 UAH was raised. All funds were transferred to support the needs of the 2nd Battalion of the Azov Brigade.

Maksym Kahal, known by the call sign “Piston”, was a Hero of Ukraine and a senior lieutenant of the Azov Regiment. He served as a platoon commander of fire support in the 1st Company of the 1st Battalion.

Piston was renowned for his athletic achievements. He was an ISKA World Kickboxing Champion among adults and the holder of many other sports awards. He was killed on March 25, 2022 during the defense of Mariupol. He was only 30 years old. We remember.

At Banda Arena in Kyiv, dozens of participants completed a workout in honor of Hero of Ukraine Maksym “Piston” Kahal on his birthday. The sport event was organized by the soldier’s friends as a continuation of his mission — to live by the motto “No fight — no glory.”

Maksym Kahal, known by the call sign “Piston”, was a senior lieutenant of the Azov Regiment. He served as a platoon commander of fire support in the 1st Company of the 1st Battalion. Piston was renowned for his athletic achievements, becoming an ISKA World Kickboxing Champion among adults and earning numerous other sports awards.

He was killed on March 25, 2022 during the defense of Mariupol. The Hero of Ukraine was forever 30 years old.
